The Kings contacted restricted free agent Dion Waiters early Friday morning and will meet with him over the weekend, and the Sixers would like to get a meeting with him this weekend too.
Chris Mannix has been pushing the Waiters angle throughout free agency and says that he is considered to be “one of the Kings’ top targets.” One source told Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee that Waiters is “locked in on Sacramento,” which might explain the aggressive stories linking him to numerous teams. The Thunder will probably consider matching any reasonable offer, and we had him projected at $14 million per year over four years, but all the chatter has pointed to a number higher than that and OKC will probably balk. With so many comparable shooting guards available this year in free agency, any team backing up the truck for any of these guys is doing it wrong.
