Marc Stein of ESPN reported on Friday that the Mavs and Dirk Nowitzki have finalized a two-year, $50 million deal.
There will be some, perhaps correctly so, that point out that Dirk isn’t worth this much money. But this is a calculated business decision from Mark Cuban. Aside from the business side in which Dirk generates big money, he is showing other superstar free agents that he is willing to pay on legacy deals. Ask Dwyane Wade about that and surely you’ll get an interesting response, and though it hasn’t truly helped Cuban to date it’s probably going to pay off for him at some point down the road.
Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs have finalized his new contract, with Dallas upping the deal to $50 million over two years, league sources say.
