ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on Wednesday that Dwyane Wade’s reps have reached out to the Spurs and Mavs.
The leverage play that Wade is making is pretty obvious but it’s one he has to make in order to get his money from the Heat. In order to convince these teams that he will actually go there, he might have to actually resign to going there and that’s probably not something he felt like doing going into this offseason. This all revolves around the Heat’s ability to sign Kevin Durant and Hassan Whiteside, the space it leaves the Heat if they can pull it off, and Pat Riley’s ability to play the Godfather card as he does so often.
