David Fizdale gave Elfrid Payton a glowing review after Wednesday's game, and suggested that he may start going forward.
"Elfrid absolutely put his foot forward, took it to heart and ramped up the competition. Like I said, I'm going to keep an open mind of this and whoever fights their way out of the pile, that's who's going to get the nod." That sure sounds like Payton will be starting, considering Dennis Smith Jr. played 10 minutes and Frank Ntilikina played three. Of course, the Knicks also didn't start a true point guard, trotting out Allonzo Trier for seven empty minutes. If anyone's coming out of the starting five it's probably Trier, but you never know with the Knicks. Payton is the Knicks PG to roster if you're into that sort of thing.
