Enes Kanter was detained at an airport in Bucharest with a reportedly invalid passport but has since been released and plans to tell his side of the story on Sunday in New York.
Kanter’s passport was allegedly canceled by his native Turkey, likely stemming from his outspoken views on President Erdogan. He’s said in the past that his politics have kept him off the Turkish national team and his own family ran letters in Turkish papers that condemned his political views. Kanter was on a tour for his Enes Kanter Light Foundation when the incident occurred. It will be very interesting to see where this goes, but it should have minimal effect on his NBA career.
