The Kings and combo guard Garrett Temple agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal on Sunday.
Temple was a reliable plug-and-play asset for the Wizards whenever John Wall or Bradley Beal got hurt. He played starter’s minutes at times, did the dirty work and the locals started pushing for him to be a bigger part of the game plan. He never quite took off like that, though, as his shot would betray him and as a secondary part of the attack he could disappear from the game plan.
He’ll defend and the Kings need guys at all three perimeter positions and Temple has played all three of those. It’s a good fit and the Kings are surprising folks by making savvy moves so far in this free agency.
