Gerald Green reached a one-year, veteran minimum agreement with the Celtics according to the Boston Herald on Sunday.
This deal is most notable for the somewhat redundant depth it creates for the squad in general. Green is a shooting guard and the Celtics currently have five guards that are in their plans with Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley, Terry Rozier and R.J. Hunter. Three of them are bigger minute guys and two of them are young players on the upswing. Adding Green, who it more or less the same guy he always has been but maybe with a few more war stories for teams to take pause, just means that the first thought we had was that they’re backing up a position they know they’re going to deal from.
