Grizzlies rookie SF Dillon Brooks scored 24 points in Tuesday’s Summer League win over the Jazz, hitting 9-of-11 shots (including four threes) to go with six rebounds, two steals and one block over 25 minutes.
Brooks had no problem scoring for Oregon but the question marks entering the league were whether his middling athleticism and defense would keep him on the floor at the NBA level. The Grizzlies are going to be playing a lot more youth than they normally do, and they haven’t been afraid to play rookies since Dave Joerger left. Brooks isn’t worth owning in fantasy leagues but owners might want to know that he’s around. Wade Baldwin added 15 points, six boards, five assists and two steals as he continues along the trajectory of backup point guard at the NBA level.
