Nets GM Sean Marks said that they “expect a lot” out of rookie combo guard Isaiah Whitehead and that “he may be thrown into the fire earlier than you’d expect for a young guy like that.”
Parsing through the GM-speak here what Marks is saying is that the Nets are a young, probably bad team that might need his contributions this year. Because Whitehead had some truly gaudy counting stats in college, fantasy owners should be on red alert during the season once injuries and indifference strike these Nets. That said, Whitehead was given the keys to the car at Seton Hall and his efficiency was garbage, as he hit just 37.9 percent of his shots. He might be deployed totally differently, but a guy that averaged 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game with a 6’9″ wingspan has our attention. He’s still not worth a flier pick in 12-14 team redraft formats.
