ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Hawks are weighing a run at unrestricted free agent Dwight Howard.
This is actually a make-sense destination for Howard as the Hawks have needed a big ‘big’ for a few years now. Aside from sticking him in a strict 25 mpg role with no promise of offensive touches, the trick will be paying what a Dwight Howard is worth now with current inflation included. That’s about $14-16 million per year for three years due to his durability issues and the decline in his game. The actual market is probably a bit or even a lot richer than that for Howard’s services, but we won’t know that for sure until the earlier dominoes in free agency fall.
