Unrestricted free agent Dion Waiters met with the Nets in early July and the sides walked away without a deal according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
Either this news was kept under wraps for weeks or it was just released into the wild right now. The market for Waiters’ services always seemed a bit forced by agents and media, and it’s an interesting turn of events to see him set free by the Thunder under the guise of cap space for Russell Westbrook. We’d absolutely cut him free if we’re the Thunder, but it does Waiters no favors in terms of finding a new home to do it this late in the game.
