The Nets waived veteran combo guard Jarrett Jack on Thursday.
Jack had lost his fastball before a torn right ACL (including right meniscus tear) ended his season in January and he has quite the hill to climb to get back to being an NBA backup. Any team wanting to claim him will have to pay $6.5 million, and that number isn’t exorbitant but it might be dead money to a lot of teams. We’ll learn a lot about how diminished teams thinks he is by whether or not he gets claimed at this price.
Before fantasy owners get too speculative about rookies Caris LeVert and Isaiah Whitehead, let’s see what the Nets do in free agency. There is a ton of low-end talent on the board at both point guard and shooting guard that fit what the Nets need right now — which is cheap and competent performers.
