The Pacers selected UCLA’s Ike Anigbogu with the 47th pick in the draft.
Most people had Anigbogu going in the first round but he kept sliding down draft boards and represents a steal of sorts for Indiana here. He proved himself both long and quick as a freshman, excelling in a reserve role despite being 18 years old on one of the nation’s top teams. Anigbogu averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 boards and 1.2 blocks in only 13.0 minutes per game. He can develop his shooting touch to be sure but the physical toolbox which Anigbogu owns makes him a very interesting fit next to Myles Turner in the long term.
