The Spurs have been shopping LaMarcus Aldridge and a report from Jabari Young of the San Antonio Express-News indicates that the Blazers might be interested in bringing him back at the right price.
The Blazers are open to a reunion but only if they can trade out matching salary. They have a ton of slight overpays on the books that all add up in the aggregate so it’s not surprising that they’d be willing to ship them out for a player of Aldridge’s caliber, despite the recent hits to his reputation. Of course, the Spurs’ impetus for moving LMA is to either pick up a top-10 pick or clear salary for the summer. Trading for matching salaries doesn’t accomplish either goal, though they could seriously consider flipping whoever they get from Portland. It seems like more trouble than it’s worth, so we don’t expect any traction on this particular deal unless someone backs off their demands.
