Jason Lloyd of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that the Cavs have offered Chauncey Billups a five-year deal to run their front office but that he has yet to respond.
One would have to think that Billups’ name doesn’t get this wedged into the process without him having strong intentions to take the job. But the uncertainty surrounding LeBron James’ future and how the franchise is currently being run has to weigh heavy in the decision-making process, as well. If we had to guess we’re going to throw a dart and say he takes the deal.
Update: Woj is out here trying to rain on everybody’s parade. Our guess is that there was a verbal and nothing on paper, which might make us take our original dart off the dartboard like nobody saw it.
Sources: Discussions between Cleveland and Chauncey Billups continue about President of Basketball Ops job, but no formal offer's been made.
