Keith Pompey of Philly.com reported on Sunday that forward Dario Saric is expected to play for the Sixers this season.
The deadline to get out of Saric’s contract with Andolu Efes of the Turkish Basketball League in on Sunday. He is expected to fly from Europe to Vegas this week to sign his contract and meet his teammates. This is big news after back-and-forth reports suggesting that he might not come back, particularly because he would have trouble getting minutes behind Ben Simmons.
Whether or not those reports were true we’re seeing the same minute and roster crunch, so this might be a hint that the Sixers will indeed trade their excess depth at center, thereby freeing up the forward position.
Dynasty owners will want to treat his stock as a ‘buy’ unless the seller is way too hyped up, but Saric’s shooting ability and particularly from the foul line (93.9% on 48 attempts in 22 Euroleague games last year) are going to translate. His defensive stats aren’t likely to be great and he might be a subpar rebounder, but there’s a statistical foundation for owners to feel safe about despite the lack of familiarity with his game.
