Gordon Hayward has pushed hard for the Jazz to re-sign George Hill, and he may find his own free agent decision hinging on whether or not the team follows through according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.
Hill had a strong year that was derailed by injuries, and Hayward certainly took notice of how effective Utah was with its big dogs at full health. Of course, the Jazz have been connected to a litany of other point guards this summer, including Kyle Lowry and Ricky Rubio, among others. The potential remains for Utah to find a point guard better than Hill, though it sounds like Hayward might be set on GH or bust. It’s going to severely complicate things as Utah tries to improve this summer. Hayward already has meetings lined up with the Heat and Celtics, so Utah might have to move very fast on a Hill extension to present their strongest pitch, even if it means passing up better-value alternatives.
