According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, the Knicks aren’t close on a deal involving Carmelo Anthony though they’ve remained in contact with the Rockets for much of the offseason.
Unsurprisingly, Houston just doesn’t have any assets that New York would want in a trade. Finding a third team has proven difficult, as there’s little that the Rockets can trade that any team would want, and the Knicks seem loathe give up any extra assets to grease the salary wheels. The Bucks surfaced as a potential option (and apparently Jabari Parker’s name was at least mentioned, though by which side is unknown) but they’re also trying to shed salary. Despite a tumultuous year, it looks like Anthony may very well be in New York come opening night.
