In an interview with a Spanish publication, Marc Gasol hinted that he might be amenable to a move if the Grizzlies don’t remain competitors.
Gasol said, “I’m very ambitious and I’ve wanted Memphis to be a great franchise. We’ve grown a lot the last 6-7 years, but we have to keep growing. If this is not lined up, maybe we may have to revisit things.” The Grizzlies have been teetering on a rebuild for a few years but their re-signing of Mike Conley and the switch to David Fizdale’s more modern play style did the team well last season. They let a few veterans walk this summer and will now have Gasol’s comments hovering around all season, adding some stakes to what’s likely to be a difficult climb in a loaded Western Conference.
