Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press writes that the Pistons are interested in Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving.
It’s not a shock, as earlier reports had as many as 20 teams calling up Cleveland to at least indicate their interest. The Pistons don’t seem satisfied with their current point guard situation and this would represent a major upgrade, but it doesn’t look like they have the pieces to make it work in a two-team scenario. Cleveland wants some win-now veterans and young studs, and Detroit only has one of those categories at the ready to trade. Even Stan Van Gundy said that they at least called the Cavs so while it’s unlikely to go anywhere, this story is past the rumor stage.
