According to a report from Sean Deveney of the Sporting News, the Rockets are “actively shopping” point guard Patrick Beverley.
Apparently Beverley is open to a move, much like he was last offseason when the team hired Mike D’Antoni. While Deveney says that the season actually went quite well and the feisty guard enjoyed working with the run and gun coach, Beverley remains amenable to change. Beverley should be an attractive guy on the trade market thanks to his 3-point prowess and elite defensive ability. He also makes an affordable $10.5 million over the next two seasons. Officially suitors for Paul George, the Rockets could potentially offer him to Indiana in any deal for PG13 as it’s doubtful the Pacers would pay Jeff Teague big dollars to run the point on a rebuilding team. Reportedly, Houston also has a meeting secured with Chris Paul in free agency so they’ll need to do some wheeling and dealing to make room either way. If the Rockets want to pursue any big names this summer, it looks like Beverley will be the first domino to fall.
