The Hornets and unrestricted free agent Roy Hibbert have agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal according to The Vertical.
Hibbert has been bad since the season he got a bunch of ridiculous DPOY votes but that’s what happens when the defenders surrounding him got steadily and steadily worse. His ability to move laterally was never great and his offensive game is inconsistent at best. The Hornets might help him have a small bounce-back season because they’ll be innumerably better on the defensive side and also in general than the Lakers were last season. That will help him tighten everything up and it will play to his strengths just a little bit more.
Update: Woj updated us with the price and that’s a fine deal for a backup big. Almost too good.
