This is interesting, as it had long been assumed that Aldridge was unhappy with his role and the Spurs weren’t overly thrilled with his play. Apparently the two sides have patched things up, so we’ll see if an extension gets done here. It might be a smart play from Aldridge, who seems unlikely to draw the same amount of interest (and money) on the open market as he did during his last free agent foray. In the meantime, he’ll shoulder the scoring load with Kawhi Leonard out of commission and should post top-50 numbers as the focal point of the offense. He’ll see a decent dip whenever Leonard returns, but the lack of timetable there could wind up being huge for LMA owners.
