Lamar Patterson scored 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including four threes) with four rebounds, six assists and two steals in Sunday’s Summer League win.
Patterson has already proven himself at the NBA level at times last season so it’s no surprise that he’s successful in Vegas. Patterson has competition for minutes on the wings in Atlanta, but the group of Kyle Korver, Tim Hardaway Jr., Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha isn’t impossible to crack so we’ll be watching how he progresses.
Walter Tavares scored 10 points with five boards and four blocks in 25 minutes, and that style of production is exactly what you’re going to get whenever he is on the floor. Dynasty and redraft owners need to be ready to move on Taveres, as Dwight Howard is a big injury risk and Tiago Splitter is an even bigger injury risk.
Tavares might have backup minutes to start the season if everything breaks right, and that would put him in a position to have low-end value right away. But if the team starts indicating he’s still not ready for the big leagues, then folks will want to back off accordingly.
