Venerable beat writer Jody Genessy wrote that the “most likely scenario” to address the Jazz’s packed point guard position would “seem to be trading away Trey Burke, Shelvin Mack and/or Raul Neto.”
It makes sense after the acquisition of George Hill and it would have made sense prior to that, as well. Dante Exum is going to get a serious look when he gets healthy and he showed enough in his rookie season for the Jazz to feel good about that choice. Burke played his way out of the rotation and he’s a logical choice to be moved, and Mack had a good enough showing at the end of the year for teams that need a stop-gap starter or solid backup to give him a look. Neto can still improve but it’s unclear is he can settle in as a solid backup or better. If we had to guess Burke and Mack head out and Neto stays as the third point guard.
