Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that there is “momentum toward a three-year, $85 million-plus maximum contract extension agreement” between Russell Westbrook and the Thunder.
Wojnarowski has been pushing the Thunder’s chances to keep Westbrook for a while and it’s unclear whether this represents a tipping point or if it’s Woj just setting the table for the framework of a theoretic deal. We are selfishly rooting for him to stay in Oklahoma City because the rivalry games between OKC and the Warriors are going to be epic.
Update: ESPN adds that a deal could be finalized within the next 48 hours and some other details. Our take? It’s looking more likely than not that Westbrook stays in OKC.
Update: Ramona Shelburne says the sides have an agreement in principle that will be signed on Thursday. Bring on the Warriors.
