Anthony Davis will be shut down for the rest of the season according to multiple reports, and he will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder and a surgery on his left knee.
This was owners’ greatest fear and it came to realization after his knee and shoulder injuries proved to be too much risk and not enough return for the Pelicans. Ryan Anderson (groin) did not play on Sunday but he and Jrue Holiday — if they can avoid the shutdown bug — will get all they can eat from here on out.
The guys you will want to focus on are Toney Douglas, Norris Cole, Tim Frazier and Luke Babbitt (in that order). All of them will get big minutes and we’d have Cole ranked higher if we could get a read on his back injury, and we’d have Frazier as a must-own player if we knew he was signed for the rest of the season. Cole moving up the ladder to questionable for Sunday’s game was a good first step. Babbitt is a risky speculative add in 12-team formats. Frazier is somewhere in-between and Babbitt and the Douglas/Cole duo. We like both Douglas and Cole as must-own guys for the upside they have.
