76ers GM Bryan Colangelo confirmed that Ben Simmons (foot) won’t be playing in Summer League.
After having a major setback in his career with the foot injury, it isn’t surprising that the Sixers are being extra cautious with Simmons. He’s expected to be the team’s primary ball handler once the season begins and we could be looking at the biggest “point guard” in the league. We have yet to see him in an NBA game and it’s still unknown as to whether or not his jumper has improved. Simmons should be ready for opening day and with the third pick in this year’s NBA draft, the Sixers are certainly filled with young talent heading into next season. Joel Embiid (knee) will also sit out Summer League as Philadelphia will reserve their young bigs for the regular season.
