Brett Brown said he doesn’t know when Nerlens Noel (knee contusion) is going to return.
“I don’t know when we’re going to see him,” Brown said. “I don’t have any comment much more than that until we learn more from our medical staff.” That could be simple coach speak or it could be heading toward shutdown territory, which is something we discussed on Tuesday’s podcast. “I felt a lot of discomfort,” Noel said. “Then it got a little worse. [I am] just giving it some rest.” The Sixers don’t play until this weekend and it’s a back-to-back set, and beyond that they have a pair of three-game weeks before the season’s final week. The short weeks give him better rest intervals, but owners need to be looking at beneficiaries nonetheless.
Carl Landry (16 points, seven rebounds, 24 minutes) is the safe pickup and will be almost a lock for the line you’re looking at, and the upside play will be Richaun Holmes (six points, four rebounds, one steal, 15 minutes). Holmes returned from his Achilles’ injury and had to get attended to by trainers throughout the game, but if he can push through the issue he has some interesting versatility. Jerami Grant, Robert Covington and Hollis Thompson all get extra room to breathe.
