Cameron Payne underwent surgery on his right foot on Monday to repair a Jones fracture.
Payne is expected to be ready for training camp and that’s about as good as the news gets in this type of situation. Anthony Slater of the Oklahoman reported that he felt pain during the season and it’s also good news that he did something about it sooner rather than later. It sheds some light on the signing of Alex Abrines, and if the Thunder picked up a placeholder third point guard in the next few weeks that wouldn’t be a shock either — so long as it doesn’t keep them from extending Russell Westbrook.
