Chris Paul has a torn ligament in his left thumb and will need surgery. He is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
Paul left Monday’s game early and had an MRI on Tuesday. This is crippling news as he has been performing so well this season. His recovery timeline puts him to return in early-mid March. In his absence, Raymond Felton is likely to start in his place while both he and Austin Rivers will benefit. Rivers averaged 14.6 points, two rebounds, 3.9 assists, and .9 steals per game in the seven games that Paul missed this season. Felton put up 12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest in that same time.
