Dennis Smith Jr., still in a walking boot because of his ankle injury, has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans.
Smith hasn’t had the production to warrant ownership in standard leagues on the balance of the season and was only a top-150 player over the last two weeks despite some strong outings. He’s pretty safe to drop if you haven’t already, as there’s no timetable for a return and the Mavs would be pretty foolish to rush their franchise guard back in a meaningless season. J.J. Barea will likely stick in a bench role but makes sense as a 14-team add and a potential 12-team guy for anyone in need of assists. Yogi Ferrell’s score-first game is far more similar to Smith’s so he seems like a decent bet to take on some of that workload and is worth a speculative add in most formats. Kyle Collinsworth started on Saturday but Jalen Jones started the second half, and the usage there will depend on nightly matchups. They’re just deep league options.
