According to Rick Carlisle, Dennis Smith Jr. (left hip strain) is gettig “closer and closer” and could return on Monday against the Suns.
He will have an individual workout tonight before their game against the Spurs so there should be another update today or tomorrow. The three-headed monster of J.J. Barea, Devin Harris and Yogi Ferrell will continue soaking up his minutes in the meantime. All three have played very well and are worth punt play consideration as long as Smith is out but it is hard to predict which one will stand out from game to game. Barea has put up top-100 value in the last three with 15.3 points, 5.3 assists and 2.0 triples. Devin Harris has six steals over his last two games. Yogi Ferrell has 13.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 triples over his last three.
