The Hornets are already a bit dinged up as Dwight Howard (back) and Malik Monk (ankle) only participated in non-contact portions of Thursday’s practice.
Howard was a limited participant yesterday as well, and the back troubles will be worth watching headed into the season. Him missing out on early reps won’t do him any favors in the impending battle with Cody Zeller. Dwight is a late-round play at best, though he still holds appeal for punters. Monk is now the third Hornets guard to hit the injury report in training camp, and they might just be playing it safe given his draft status and their limited guard depth. Though he’ll log time at both guard spots, he’s not expected to do much besides chip in points and threes for deep league owners.
