Erik Spoelstra told international reporters Tuesday that he expects center Hassan Whiteside to return soon and believes the Heat center will be a much better version of himself when he comes back.
“All things considered this is something that we don’t think is really a big injury that will have him out for a significant period of time,” Spoelstra said about Whiteside’s left knee bone bruise. “I think he’ll be back pretty soon and I think you’ll get a healthier, stronger, faster better version of Hassan when he comes back.” Whiteside missed five game early this season with a bruise to a different bone in the same knee and the earliest he can make his return will be on December 13th when the Heat return home to face the Blazers. He is averaging 14.9 points, 12.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 58 percent and owners should feel encouraged by Spo’s comments. Expect Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk to continue filling the void with the latter maintaining value even when Whiteside is back.
