Coach Fred Hoiberg said on Monday that Jimmy Butler’s knee is structurally sound, and if he doesn’t respond to rest and treatment over the next couple of days then they will order an MRI.
“We’ll know more tomorrow,” Hoiberg said. “We’ll get him to wear a compression thing, for lack of a better word, and we’ll make a determination tomorrow.” As far as a timeline goes, Hoiberg added “It’s too early to tell how long this one will be. He’s optimistic he’ll be back soon and I never doubt him.” This one seems like it could go a few different directions, and even Hoiberg himself doesn’t sound confident that this is a simple precautionary measure. Nonetheless, nobody appears to be totally freaking out in Chicago so maybe this trends more toward day-to-day rather than week-to-week.
