Gordon Hayward (leg) will not return on Tuesday after a brutal injury on the court which brought the game to an abrupt halt.
Hayward came down awkwardly on his left leg and was immediately attended to on the court. The courtside broadcasters immediately noted that it was a broken leg. After the game was halted and players gathered around, Hayward was carried off on a stretcher. At first glance, this looks like a long-term injury, but we would wait to hear confirmation from the Celtics on any timeline at this point. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will see an immediate uptick in minutes.
UPDATE: Gordon Hayward has been diagnosed with a fractured left ankle, according to the Celtics. The is the first update anyone has heard about the injury. An MRI will reveal the fulll extent of the injury. Marcus Smart started the second half in Hayward’s place. Stay tuned for more updates.
