The Kings have announced that rookie Harry Giles will not play this season, instead focusing on “more vigorous practice activity and individual workouts tailored to continue developing overall strength and aid ACL injury prevention.”
Essentially, the Kings are going to make sure his ACLs are strong enough to withstand the eventual rigors of an NBA schedule. He’ll be back in Summer League but the team is playing it safe despite assertions that he’s made significant progress and that he’s completely healthy. Giles has reportedly put up fantastic numbers in his athletic tests and hasn’t suffered any setbacks, so this is just the team making sure that he’s as strong as possible for the long-run. He’s torn both ACLs since 2013 but this extended rest and rehab should do him tons of good down the line.
