After the Mavs game on Tuesday, J.J. Barea told ESPN that he will suit up and play on Friday against the Nets.
Barea has missed the last 19 games with a strained calf but has finally recovered and is set to return Friday. Coach Carlisle has alluded to March 10 as Barea’s return date many times, so it is good news to see that the Mavs stuck to their original plan. With Yogi Ferrell, Devin Harris and Quinn Cook holding down the fort at point guard, you can expect Barea to rotate some at first. He has been a fantasy playoff hero before and has every chance to rise to the occasion once again, but it will take him a few games. Unless you have the luxury or the patience, leave him on the wire for now. He could be relevant soon enough, but not right away.
