Jamal Murray will sit out the FIBA World Cup because of a sprained ankle, though he will be with Team Canada at training camp.
Murray joins a lengthy list of NBA players who are passing on Team Canada, which has turned what was once an impressive list into a team that might not be as good as their last group. They're down to Khem Birch, Cory Joseph, Chris Boucher and Kelly Olynyk as far as NBA representatives go. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, Tristan Thompson, Dwight Powell, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Nik Stauskas are among the others on the initial invite list that won't be attending. Murray's injury is unlikely to affect his availability for the NBA season but we'll keep you posted if it does.
