Jimmy Butler participated in 5-on-5 work at Monday’s practice for the first time since sustaining his meniscus injury and remains on track to return before the playoffs begin.
Butler suffered a meniscus injury on February 23rd and was cleared for contact last week. 5-on-5 activity is one of the last steps that most players take before returning to the court so it’s entirely possible we see him some time this week. He’ll likely be on a minutes limit when he does return but should be scooped up wherever he was dropped as the Wolves might need to accelerate the process depending on how the out-of-town scoreboard looks in the coming days. Nemanja Bjelica will return to the bench when Butler is ready and will be a drop candidate whenever Jimmy Buckets has any restrictions lifted. The fact that the Wolves only play twice this week could complicate matters, but it will give Butler plenty of time to get ready before Thursday’s game.
