Kawhi Leonard is scheduled for a Monday morning MRI on his left ankle, according to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.
Leonard rolled his ankle twice in about three minutes, the second of which came on a questionable-looking play from Zaza Pachulia. While Leonard himself said the play wasn’t dirty people are already fired up in a major way. Counting the injury he picked up against Houston, that’s the third ankle turn for the MVP candidate in the past week or so and he’s looking questionable to suit up in Game 2. If he were to miss time, Patty Mills, Manu Ginobili, Jonathon Simmons and LaMarcus Aldridge will be given more scoring and ball-handling responsibilities while Dejounte Murray and Kyle Anderson will earn extra minutes. It’s an unenviable position to be in, as San Antonio dropped an eminently winnable Game 1 and could be looking at life without one of the NBA’s premier players.
