Kawhi Leonard’s MRI results showed no structural damage in his ankle according to ESPN’s Michael C. Wright, and the star forward is officially listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s Game 2.
Leonard, as you might’ve heard, came down on the foot of Zaza Pachulia following a hotly-debated closeout attempt. Earlier today Coach Pop said that he’ll be without Leonard in the next one and the official doubtful tag seems to back that up. He missed Game 6 of San Antonio’s series with the Rockets due to another ankle injury and has rolled his ankle three times in short order. With him presumably out tomorrow, Jonathon Simmons should log plenty of minutes. He, Dejounte Murray and Kyle Anderson figure to split Leonard’s minutes while players like Manu Ginobili and LaMarcus Aldridge will run the offense a bit more for as long as the MVP candidate remains out. Perhaps he’ll be able to return for Game 3.
