February 22, 2018, 3:08 pmLonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers
Lonzo Ball is expected to return Friday versus the Mavericks.
After being out since January 13th with a minor MCL sprain, Ball is expected to make his return tomorrow. The Lakers have tried to make it clear that Ball is the starting point guard but the belief is both Ball and Isaiah Thomas will be able to coexist together. Ball had been putting together a good run, producing early round value in the last month before his injury. He was producing very well in 3-pointers, rebounds, assists, steals, and contributed to field goal and free throw percentage. The Lakers play at an extremely high pace but Ball will have to learn to play without recently traded players Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson, and with recent acquisition Isaiah Thomas. Ball loses two athletic players that contributed defensively and adds a currently nonathletic, defensive liability that is ball dominant. Don’t expect the third round value Ball was giving you when he went down with his injury, but he should still be a solid fantasy asset for the remainder of the season.
Update: Ball practiced in full Thursday and his status will be determined Friday morning.
