Michael Carter-Williams will undergo surgery to repair a posterior labral tear in his left shoulder and miss the rest of the season.
Carter-Williams battled injuries at the start of the year and will now see his season end because of another. He should be facing a very cool market this summer, and the former Rookie of the Year might be nearing the end of the line. It opens up the backup point guard spot for the Hornets, who did a lot of talking in the offseason about how they’ll make time for rookie Malik Monk at both guard spots. We’ll see if they deliver on that now. Monk would only be worth using for threes, but the development time would be a big benefit as the Hornets look to the future.
