• Nuggets coach Mike Malone told Harrison Wind of BSN Denver that they’re not expecting Paul Millsap (wrist) to return until the All-Star break at the earliest.

Denver obviously won’t rush Millsap back. It’s a crushing blow for his own rest-of-season forecast but it’s not entirely unexpected. Millsap is supposed to be wearing a cast for another month or so and will then need to go through a ton of on-court work before making a return. In the interim, Trey Lyles appears to have taken the backup power forward job from Kenneth Faried and should get plenty of minutes. His intriguing stat set makes him a nice pickup, especially now that we have a much better idea of his shelf life. Mason Plumlee should also get some extra work, and Wilson Chander is still not a standard league play but might post some better numbers in extra time at power forward.
