ESPN’s Nick Friedell is reporting that Rajon Rondo is visiting a hand specialist on Monday and will not play, allowing Jerian Grant to draw the start.
That’s an ominous sign for his rest-of-season outlook, particularly as the Bulls are fighting for their playoff lives. They were looking like a safe bet for the sixth seed but were stunned by the lowly Nets and Knicks last week, pushing them back into the pack of low-seed contenders. This will mark the third straight game that Rondo has missed. Grant may start but hasn’t done much to impress this season. Michael Carter-Williams will also see more time and seems like the better bet for fantasy value, minimal though it may be. It’s a situation to avoid unless you’re using Jimmy Butler, who is a truly elite play with Rondo out.
