Reggie Jackson was able to participate in 4-on-4 work on Sunday, opening the door for him to return this week.
This is the last card up Detroit’s sleeve in the playoff hunt, so we’ll see how it turns out. Jackson will probably have to go through some 5-on-5 work during the week but that seems like a small hurdle to leap if he’s already at this stage. He’s unlikely to return to a full workload and makes for just a low-end add the rest of the way, though guard-needy teams can do what they’ve got to do. Until he takes back the lion’s share of minutes, it’s more likely that Jackson and Ish Smith form a value-killing timeshare. Dwight Buycks and Jameer Nelson could fall out of the rotation, as the two have currently been trading off backup duties. Besides all that, there’s going to be a major adjustment period as Jackson learns to play with Blake Griffin. His ROS outlook isn’t great but he’s at least available if you want to give him a shot.
