Updating a previous item, it’s now being reported that Marcus Smart is dealing with a torn ligament in his right thumb and will be out indefinitely.
Smart is waiting for a second opinion on the injury but becomes droppable in fantasy leagues. Terry Rozier is shaping up as an excellent play down the stretch, even after accounting for his current standard league value. Shane Larkin will also pick up some slack but remains on a 15-17 minute limit so Rozier is going to get all the work he can handle while Kyrie Irving is out. The Celtics, down a ton of players at the moment, could also look to run things through Greg Monroe in the second unit. It’s unorthodox but not dissimilar to the way the Bucks used Monroe in their second unit last season. He’s a solid speculative add in standard leagues with this news, and a surefire pickup in anything deeper on the heels of today’s Daniel Theis news.
