According to his agent Roger Montgomery, Rudy Gay (Achilles) plans to opt out of his contract in order to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Gay is reportedly “ahead of schedule” from recovering from his ruptured left Achilles tendon. He’s hopeful to get back to the court by mid-June and is keeping his options open this summer. Gay could have opted in for $14.3 million, but it looks like he’ll be banking on himself post-injury. He wants to win a ring and is willing to take a slight pay cut to do so.
